Madrigal Dinners, December 16-18, 2005
Graphical information (each a 0.5 MB PDF file):
This December, the Parish Hall will once again host the Madrigal Dinners. This community tradition, which started in 1972, was last enjoyed in 2003, and continues to be led by Kent A. Otto, Director of Music at St. Philip’s. As always, it’s hard to say whether the music, encompassing a time span from medieval to more recent times, or the splendid Feast is the greater draw.
St. Philip’s Madrigal Singers bring an evening of pageantry, song, feasting and revelry in the renaissance tradition. Enjoy an elegant four course Christmas feast including a dessert and fine wines or an alternative beverage in the Renaissance-styled Great Hall of the historical St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church.
While Otto acts as director and producer of the event, a number of key coordinators work independently. Many of the Madrigal Singers are regular members of the St. Philip’s Adult choir.
This year’s Madrigals will be held during Advent on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 16, 17, 18, 2005 and make a perfect early Christmas gift for a friend or family member. All tickets are reserved at $42/individual or $300/table of eight and can be obtained by sending a check to St. Philip’s Madrigal Dinners, 403 E. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. Or you can leave a message at 919.682.5708 ext 17 to arrange for payment by credit card order.
