Monday, 6/11 – Jacqueline Harris

One rebuilding-repair group, two kitchen group ( Sue, Virginia, Jacqueline – Sue later joined repair group). Outside temp 97 degrees.

Virginia and I were part of the kitchen crew. We got up at 4:30am. Without us, there would be no f-o-o-d. However trouble was on the horizon for the KP. At 5pm, a different supervisor came. (Name shall not be mentioned.) HE was obsessive-compulsive and we were driven insane and exhausted. “Pick up the different dish. Make sure you put on gloves. Stir a pot, remove gloves. Put on a next pair. Clean one dish – gloves – another dish – other gloves. Lift up a pan – clean – don’t forget your gloves – clean the outside and bottom of pans. Stack dishes – gloves. Grab a knife – another pair of gloves. (I do not remember our surgeons ever changing gloves 5 times per hour.) Anyway, we called him Sergeant. Virginia trained, eye-rolling, Jill (a different city crew), was good at raising her eye brows. As for me – KP escapee – that’s it.
