Recipes for the Community Kitchen at
UMD (Urban Ministries of Durham)

On the first Sunday of each month, copies of a recipe are available in the parish hall for you to take home to cook up a meal for the Community Kitchen. Make it at home & bring it in to store in our freezer. Questions? Talk to Meg McCann or Sarah Nevill (contact parish office at 682-5708 or by e-mail).

Beside the recipes you will find pans for your use. If you prefer to provide your own pan, please check to be sure you use the correct pan size. Of course UMD will use whatever food is given, but incorrectly-sized pans don’t fit the steam tables. We're supposed to use half-size steam table pans (13 ½ or 13 ¼ inches by 9 5/8 inches by 2 ¾ inches), which can be hard to find or not labeled clearly. At Harris-Teeter, they're called "Hefty Roaster Pans" & then in small type it says "(Fits half-size steam table)". At CostCo they are clearly labeled but sold only in a large pack.

Our recipes are archived here.
