Youth Choir and Bell Choir

In the Fall of 2004, St. Philip's charted the unknown territory of starting a Youth Choir. We began rehearsing on Wednesday evenings, and it became readily apparent that we had a large range of talent and knowledge -- from those who had performed solos in outside choirs to those who didn't want to sing at all but loved music -- from those who'd never produced a note on an instrument to those who were trained on multiple instruments. How would we blend our varied group into an ensemble?

We quickly realized that a Youth Choir wouldn't meet the needs of everyone in our group -- we needed an opportunity to play instruments as well as sing -- thus, The St. Philip's Bell Choir was born (which hopes to be accompanied in the future by some of our members on clarinet, piano and violin).

So far, our Youth Choir and Bell Choir have performed during Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, and on Easter Sunday. We're planning an Easter Egg Hunt (4/6/05), rehearsing for upcoming performances, and planning a summer talent show and a beach trip to choir camp in August.
